Privacy Policy

The short version

Your YAML is never sent to any server. All formatting, validation, and conversion runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript. We do not collect, store, or transmit the content you paste into the editor — ever.

1. Who we are

YAML Formatter is a free online tool at https://yaml-formatter-alpha.vercel.app that formats, validates, and converts YAML and JSON entirely in your browser.

2. Data we do not collect

We do not collect, store, log, or transmit:

  • The YAML or JSON content you paste or type into the editor
  • The formatted or converted output generated by the tool
  • Files you download from the tool
  • Your IP address, location, or device fingerprint (beyond what your browser sends in standard HTTP headers to serve the page)
  • Account information (there are no accounts)

Once the page loads, the formatter, validator, and converter run entirely in your browser with no further network requests. You can verify this in your browser's network tab.

3. Cookies and local storage

We use a single piece of browser local storage to remember your dark/light theme preference (localStorage.theme). This is never sent to any server and contains no personal information.

We do not set any first-party cookies.

4. Advertising (Google AdSense)

This site displays advertisements served by Google AdSense. Google may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to our site and/or other sites on the Internet.

You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings. Alternatively, you can opt out of third-party vendors' use of cookies by visiting networkadvertising.org.

5. Analytics

We do not currently use any web analytics service (e.g., Google Analytics). If this changes, this policy will be updated.

6. Third-party services

The site is hosted on Vercel. Vercel may log standard HTTP request metadata (IP address, request path, timestamp) for operational purposes. See Vercel's Privacy Policy.

Fonts are served from Google Fonts, which may log basic request metadata. See Google Fonts Privacy FAQ.

7. Children's privacy

This site is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any information from children under 13.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
